Diploma in English Language Teaching program is designed to help students develop proficiency in teaching English.


One of the ways of learning a language well is to prepare oneself to teach it. This program trains students to learn different aspects of the English language, from a teacher's point of view. Individuals, who wish to teach English, may opt for this program.

The objective of the program is to bridge the gap between theory and practice in the methodology of teaching English. The program also aims at developing reading and writing skills and English vocabulary.
 


  • XII Standard pass-out with minimum 50% marks in English Subject.
  • Diploma holder / Bachelor's Degree Holder / Graduate in any discipline from a recognised University with 50% marks in English subject.
  • Completed Diploma / Bachelor's Degree / Graduation in English medium.
  • International / SAARC Graduate from a recognised / accredited University / Institution.
  • Students who have appeared for final year of examination of their bachelor's degree program and are awaiting results can also apply, subject to successfully completing their bachelor's degree program / graduation within the time period specified by SCDL.

  • The duration of the program is one year.
  • The registration period is valid for two academic years.

Introduction to the Study of English Language
Structure of English Language
Instructional Methodologies of English Language
SEMESTER II :
A study in English Grammar
Teaching English at Primary and Secondary Level
Teaching and Learning of English through Constructivism

After completing this course, a student will develop a clear understanding of teaching and learning of English. It will help one to effectively teach English when one takes up the career as an English teacher, either in schools or in professional private classes, besides improving one's own English language skills.

Application Form Fee
The application form fee for applicants in:
  • General Category: ₹ 1200
  • Defence/Paramilitary/Police Category: ₹ 1200
  • International/SAARC Category: US $ 100
Note: Application fee is non-refundable.

Fee Payment Options

Students have two options to pay the program fees as per below specified timelines.
→ Option 1: One-Time Payment: Pay full program fee in one-time payment, as specified for respective program,
within 30 days from the date of grant of confirmed admission.
→ Option 2: Two-Instalments: Pay full program fee in two-instalments:
  • Pay first instalment within 15 days from the date of grant of confirmed admission.
  • Pay second instalment within 45 days of payment of first Instalment payment or on or before
    the last date to pay full fee, whichever is earlier, as per policy.
 
     Note: Installment option closes 15 days before the last specified date of admission

Note: Exam fees and submission fees are not included in program fee. Pay Exam fees (per paper per attempt) and submission fees (each paper) separately. Exam fees or submission fees is non-refundable and non-transferable. SCDL does not accept any type of fee in cash.
 
Mode of Payments
♦ Online: Students can pay application form fees, program fees and all exam fees online.
♦ Demand Draft: Students can pay fees via Demand Draft (DD) drawn in favour of  
   “The Director SCDL, Pune” payable at Pune.
